Introduction to Game Hunting in Victoria

Victoria has some of the best Game Hunting in the world, which is acknowledged by having over 50,000 licensed hunters for deer, duck, quail and introduced game birds. This session aims at provide the new hunter with all the information required to participate in the wonderful recreation of game hunting.

Presented by Game Management Authority, topics covered will include: How do I get a game licence, what type of hunting methods can be used, where am I allowed to hunt, where can I get maps of  hunting areas and other valuable information.

To ensure that game hunting is enjoyed by today’s, and future generations game hunting is highly regulated, and the aim of every hunter should be to improve their knowledge and skills so that they can obtain the most benefit out of their recreation. This session will provide information that will help you comply with Victoria’s hunting laws and help make you a better hunter.

Hunting Trophy Sambar Stags with Rob Fickling & Phil Minouge

Rob Fickling, director of Moroka.30 and presenter of TV hunting series “Beyond The Divide” hosts this very rare treat as veteran Victorian hunter Phil Minouge, shares his experience from more than three decades of Sambar hunting, over which time he has taken with amazing consistency, some of the finest specimens of mature Sambar Stags this country has ever seen. On display will be an inspiring collection of giant Sambar trophies, including his 1991 monster that measured 34x34x39, which sat at the No. 1 position in the Australian trophy register for six years, and still to this day is revered as one of the best ever taken. Phil will also cover in detail some of the techniques and strategies he has successfully used for targeting big stags and some tips for success. For the keen hunter this presentation is not to be missed, and is guaranteed to be standing room only.
